CHIKO Women's Junior Pro

The Women’s CHIKO Pro Junior has been upgraded from a 2-Star to a 4-Star rating after the surfing event received a generous contribution from an anonymous donor.

The increase in star rating means that Australasia competitors will receive a bigger prize purse and more rating points.

Dane Jordan ASP Australasia General Manager expressed his gratitude to the generous donor, “This is an exciting announcement for women’s junior surfing,” Jordan said. “These girls are athletes, and they’re beginning a career path that leads to the ASP Women’s World Tour and this boost in funding will help them down that path.”

“This donation shows the importance of women’s professional surfing in the community,” said Surfest Coordinator Warren Smith. “These girls are the future of the sport and they’re progressing at a rate of knots and it’s great for all of us to see.”

The CHIKO Pro Junior runs March 8-11 at Merewether Beach, Newcastle in New South Wales in conjunction with Newcastle’s Surfest.
